International students are those who are not citizens or permanent residents of England ,USA ,Australia or citizens of New Zealand. We currently have international students studying at the School as undergraduates, in our postgraduate programs by coursework, and in postgraduate research programs.
The School of Dentistry welcomes students from overseas to all of the following programs:
Undergraduate
Bachelor of Dental Science (Honors) (BDSc)
The Bachelor of Dental Sciences (Honors) is a five year degree which will give you the knowledge, skills and attitude for an exciting career in the dental industry. You will learn the science and application for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of oral diseases and abnormalities, while having access to the most up-to-date technologies and cutting-edge dentistry research.
The cut-offs for entry vary each year according to the standard of applicants. As a guide, the major round cut-offs in 2015 for International full fee paying students were:
Entry Rank 99 (OP1/ IB42/ GPA 5.8 Group I tertiary institution*/ GPA 6.5 Group II tertiary institution**) with a minimum ISAT score of 164 (Overall Reasoning).
* Group I institutions (Group of Eight research-intensive universities) include University of Queensland, University of Sydney, University of NSW, Australian National University, University of Melbourne, Monash University, University of Adelaide, University of Western Australia.
**Group II institutions in Queensland include Queensland University of Technology, Griffith University, James Cook University, University of Southern Queensland, University of Sunshine Coast, University of Central Queensland, Australian Catholic University. Contact UQ Admissions for other Group II institutions.
This degree requires you to have a higher level of English language that the UQ minimum. For year 1 entry, a minimum IELTS score of 7.0 in all categories (speaking, listening, reading and writing) is required. TOEFL test results are not acceptable and documentary evidence is required. To be eligible for consideration for entry into the BDSc applicants must have completed four units of study at an Australian senior high school level in Chemistry and English.
All international applicants will also be required to sit the ISAT (International Student Admission Test). For information about ISAT please visit the ACER website.
International applicants studying years 11 and 12 within Australia should apply through QTAC for a place in the BDSc. International students currently studying at UQ and any other applicants must submit an application through UQ International Admissions.
The School of Dentistry offers graduate programs leading to the award of degrees of Doctor of Clinical Dentistry(DClinDent), Master of Philosophy (MPhil) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). The MPhil and PhD programs are undertaken by research, and the DClinDent program is undertaken by postgraduate program which leads to specialist registration.
